Participle কাকে বলে? Participle কত প্রকার?

 

Participle একধরনের "non-finite" verb যেটা একই সাথে verb ও adjective  এর কাজ করে।

Participle: কোনো word যখন verb ও adjective এর মত কাজ করে, তখন তাকে Participle বলা হয়। যেমনঃ I am singing a song

এখানে "singing" শব্দটা একই সাথে গান গাওয়া (verb) এবং গান গাইতে পারা যে একটি গুন(adjective) উভয়েই বোঝাচ্ছে। সুতারাং Signing হলো participle.

এরকম উদাহরণঃ

He went into the rain running.

I saw a burning house.

Did you have your computer fixed.

 

Participle কত প্রকার?

 Participle তিন প্রকার।

1. Present participle
2. Past participle
3. Perfect participle
   

Present Participle: Verb-এর শেষে "ing" থাকে যা কোন কাজের চলমান অবস্থা বুঝায়, তখন তাকে Present participle বলে।

example: I am reading 

         He is singing

Past Participle: সাধারণভাবে আমরা যাকে verb-এর তিন নম্বর রুপ বলে জানি, যদি সেটা participle এর মত আচরণ করেতাকে past participle বলে। যেমন, done, gone, taken প্রভৃতি।

example: He had his car stolen.

Perfect Participle:  "Having + past participle" যখন থাকে তখন তাকে  Perfect Participle বলে।

example: Having seen the lion, he ran away.
